Salah hints at Liverpool exit after shock claim of broken promises

Liverpool has been  shaken to its core after Mohamed Salah delivered one of the most explosive interviews of his career a public outburst that has left fans stunned, the dressing room unsettled, and the future of one of the club’s greatest ever players hanging by a thread.

Speaking after Liverpool’s dramatic 3-3 draw at Leeds United, Salah claimed that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot has collapsed and suggested someone at the club “does not want him” anymore. For a player who has defined Liverpool’s modern success, the comments landed like a thunderclap.

Salah, 33 has been benched for three straight Premier League matches and did not play a single minute at Elland Road. For the Egyptian, this was the final straw.

“I couldn’t believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes; he said “l have done so much for this club Now I’m thrown under he bus. Someone wants me to get all the blame.”

Salah claimed the broke promises made to him in the summer, adding that while he once shared a strong bond with Slot, the relationship has abruptly “disappeared.” Without naming names, he hinted strongly that someone within the hierarchy was pushing him out.

The comments sparked instant reaction across English football. Former Liverpool stars Danny Murphy and Michael Owen blasted Salah for taking his frustrations public, calling the interview “emotional,” unprofessional,” and damaging to the winger’s claims “don’t stack up,” arguing that every player even the greats must fight for their place.

Slot, meanwhile, defended his decision to leave Salah unused, insisting the game situation did not require him. But Salah’s belief that he has been unfairly singled out runs deep. He even compared his treatment to that of Harry Kane, noting how the English striker was protected during goal droughts while he feels abandoned.

With AFCON starting on December 15, Salah admitted that next week’s match against Brighton his final game before joining Egypt could be his last appearance at Anfield. He told his family to attend because he “doesn’t know what will happen next.”

Liverpool legend or not, Salah now appears closer than ever to the exit door. A January move, once unthinkable, suddenly feels realistic.

Still, many within the club hope this story doesn’t end in bitterness. Murphy believes Salah can still return, cool down, and finish his Liverpool journey with dignity. But the tone of Salah’s words suggests deep emotional hurt and perhaps a point of no return.

After eight years, 250 goals, trophies, records, and unforgettable nights, Liverpool may be witnessing the beginning of the end for the Salah era a departure marked not by applause and gratitude, but by tension, distrust and disbelief.

Whatever happens next, the fallout from this interview will define the remainder of Liverpool’s season and possibly reshape the club’s future.
